The Perfect Turin Itinerary for 2 or 3 Days
Turin, Italy is a city that offers unique experiences away from the typical tourist traps found in other parts of Italy. With its charming streets, delectable cuisine, and rich history, it is the perfect destination for a long weekend getaway!

Why Visit Turin?
Having traveled to Turin regularly since 2005, with my latest trip in Summer 2024, I can confidently say this lovely city is perfect for a weekend retreat. While the beaches of the Amalfi Coast or the Trevi Fountain may tempt you, the overwhelming crowds can sometimes strip away the authentic Italian experience. Conversely, Turin remains refreshingly uncrowded and authentically Italian, even in peak tourist seasons.
Getting to Turin has never been easier, thanks to the convenient transport links from Caselle International Airport and a direct bus service to and from Milan’s Malpensa Airport. It’s ideal for a weekend escape, especially if you manage to extend your stay!
In this travel guide, I’ll share all my insider tips, from the must-see tourist highlights and affordable hotels to the best dining spots in the city, catering to all budgets.
Things to Do in Turin, Italy
Your First Evening in Turin
Upon arrival, make your first stop at Hotel Roma, ideally situated across from Porta Nuova train station in the historic center. After dropping off your bags, venture out into the city to soak in the local atmosphere as dusk descends.

Stroll along the portici (covered arches), a feature that Turin is famous for. They guide you towards Via Roma, the city’s upscale shopping street, leading you to Piazza CLN. Here, you’ll spot two striking statues symbolizing the Po and Dora Rivers. A must-see for horror fans is Dario Argento’s classic film Profondo Rosso, which features these statues!
Turin Itinerary – Day 1
Start your morning with a coffee and a pastry at your hotel. Italians favor light breakfasts, so now’s the time for that cappuccino or caffe latte — not in the afternoon, though!
The Mole Antonelliana and the National Museum of Cinema

Head to the iconic Mole Antonelliana and the National Museum of Cinema located on Via Po. If you notice a queue, buy your tickets online using your phone. Though there’s a small fee, it’s worth it to skip the wait!
Inside, you’ll explore the history of cinema and film. Make sure to allow for at least two hours to truly enjoy this immersive experience.
Lunch Near the Mole Antonelliana
By now, you’ll be ready for lunch. Grab a bite at Tre da Tre, a Neapolitan-style pizzeria, or the local All’Antico Vinaio for delicious sandwiches!
Porta Palatina

After lunch, stroll to Porta Palatina, one of the continent’s best-preserved Roman gates, dating back to the 1st century.
The Duomo & The Shroud of Turin

Opposite Porta Palatina is the Duomo di Torino. While it might seem unassuming from the outside, it houses the famous Shroud of Turin, believed to be the cloth Jesus was wrapped in post-crucifixion. While the original is often stored away, there are occasional opportunities to view it, so check ahead!
Dinner in Turin
After a day of sightseeing, enjoy a hearty Italian dinner. If you’re short on time, visit Brek for a self-service meal or choose a restaurant in Piazza Emanuele Filiberto.
