Discover the charm of Casa Camper Barcelona, a boutique hotel that combines thoughtful design with comfort, great food, and sustainable practices—all within walking distance of the city’s vibrant historic center.

Hotel Casa Camper in Barcelona Spain

On my most recent trip to Barcelona, I spent my first three days at Casa Camper Barcelona, a boutique hotel nestled in the city center. Operated by Camper, a renowned Spanish shoemaker, this hotel emphasizes thoughtful design, incredible dining, sustainable practices, and celebrating the historic city right at its doorstep.

If you cherish the idea of staying at a local, independent hotel in Barcelona while still enjoying high-level comfort, services, and amenities, then Casa Camper Barcelona could be the ideal hotel for your next getaway. There’s a reason I’ve been visiting since 2004 (!) and also stayed at their hotel in Berlin…I’m a huge fan of Casa Camper!

Note: I paid in full for my stay at Casa Camper Barcelona and did not disclose that I am a blogger. This is an unbiased hotel review.

Casa Camper Barcelona Rooms

Casa Camper Barcelona King Room

I reserved one of Casa Camper Barcelona’s Camper Garden King rooms, distinctively designed to stretch across both sides of the hotel hallway.

On one side of the hall, you will find a standard guest room boasting a king-sized bed and a closet area, complete with a radio, hangers, shelves, and a spacious safe. Additionally, there are plenty of hooks on the wall for jackets and purses.

Casa Camper Barcelona Bathroom

Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom area, which overlooks an interior wall garden. It features a shower, a separate toilet, and a sink with ample counter space. One of the highlights of Casa Camper rooms is the abundance of natural light streaming in from the floor-to-ceiling bathroom windows (although you can close the exterior shades if you prefer a darker atmosphere).

Private Lounge in Hotel Casa Camper Barcelona

Just across the hall (they thoughtfully provide robes and Camper slippers!) is a private living room where you can find a sofa, a Brazilian hammock, and a balcony. This layout is ideal if one person wants to work or read while the other gets ready.

Casa Camper Barcelona Restaurants

Casa Camper Barcelona features four restaurants. Although I didn’t have the chance to visit them all, you should definitely include them in your Barcelona itinerary if you have more time!

Breakfast at Casa Camper Barcelona

Breakfast at Casa Camper Barcelona Hotel

I always opt for a room rate that includes breakfast because I love enjoying a leisurely morning meal at Casa Camper before embarking on a full day of sightseeing in Barcelona. Breakfast is served in the Tentempié snack bar, offering both à la carte and buffet options. During my stay, I tried the yogurt with fresh fruit and granola, adding pan amb tomaquet one day and avocado toast the next.

After breakfast, Tentempié transforms into a snack bar where guests can grab drinks and snacks throughout the day (and night!). Coffee and pastries are complimentary, while other snacks and beverages operate on a self-serve honor system. For a relaxed drink, the rooftop terrace also features an honesty bar.

Dos Palillos Restaurant

Dos Palillos is a Michelin-starred restaurant within Casa Camper. Its menu showcases Asian fusion cuisine, with an emphasis on tasting menus featuring dishes like truffled wagyu steaks, Cantonese-style pork jowls, and a millefeuille of tofu skin with yuzu. Tasting menu prices range from approximately €90 to €140, excluding drinks.

⭐ Dos Pebrots Restaurant

Tapas for Dinner at Dos Pebrots, the Casa Camper Barcelona Hotel

Founded by chefs who also worked at Dos Palillos and the legendary elBulli, this restaurant focuses on imaginative yet unpretentious tapas rooted in traditional principles. The menu explains each dish and its origins, spotlighting culinary history, like the pine nut omelette derived from the Mediterranean’s oldest cookbook and the mushroom and cheese potato gnocchi that gained fame following the imposition of a wheat tax in the 1800s.

The image above showcases their seasonal vegetables preserved in olive oil, garnished with pine nuts and wildflowers. This was just one of three tapas (plus one dessert!) I enjoyed during my dinner. I had an insider’s view as I sat at the kitchen bar, observing the intricacies of preparing and plating these masterpieces.

Dos Billares Cocktail Bar

If you prefer a relaxing atmosphere over a wild night out, Dos Billares is an inviting cocktail bar within Casa Camper Barcelona. It features two pool tables and a selection of board games to keep you entertained while sipping cocktails.

Casa Camper Barcelona Rooftop Terrace

If you’re curious about the amenities at Casa Camper Barcelona, simply take the elevator up or down.

The sixth floor holds Casa Camper’s rooftop terrace, a serene oasis amid the bustling city center. This spacious terrace is divided into various semi-private areas where you can grab a drink from the honesty bar and unwind, whether alone or with friends.

The hotel’s lower level houses a gym equipped with an elliptical machine, a treadmill, and a wall rack for resistance and weight training. In the lobby, you’ll find both local and international newspapers (yes, they still have print editions!) alongside coffee table books focused on local and contemporary art. Bicycles adorn the lobby ceiling, and my recollection is that you may be able to borrow one to explore the city (ask at reception!).

Casa Camper Barcelona Location

Antic Hospital de la Santa Cru in El Raval, Barcelona, Spain

I’ve been traveling to Barcelona for over twenty years, and Casa Camper is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods. It’s close to the upper end of La Rambla, the iconic street that connects Placa de Catalunya to the Mediterranean Sea, just a five-minute walk from La Boqueria Market.

From Casa Camper, you can stroll nearly anywhere in the historic city center, and popular destinations like Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell are just a short metro ride away. If you’re arriving or departing, the nearest Aerobus stop is only 600 meters from the hotel, or you can find the metro stop that leads to the main train station (Barcelona Sants).

This area of the city is known as El Raval, and while it had a rough reputation years ago, I’ve stayed here as a solo female traveler since 2004 and have always felt safe. The area has gentrified and flourished, with lively streets now filled with trendy cocktail bars, art galleries, and boutique shops.

Do I recommend Casa Camper Barcelona?

Entrance to Casa Camper Hotel in Barcelona

Yes, I wholeheartedly recommend Casa Camper Barcelona! As I mentioned, I have been coming to this hotel since 2004, and I believe it to be one of the best hotels in the city. I absolutely adore the location, the design, and the breakfast, and I always look forward to my stays here. I’m sure it won’t be long before I return!

On my recent trip, I noticed that prices at the hotel dropped from when I booked (months in advance) to when I arrived. This makes Casa Camper Barcelona an excellent choice for last-minute getaways or for travelers with flexible plans who don’t need to book too far in advance.
