Kappa Futur Festival Review: Turin, Italy’s Biggest EDM Festival!
In July 2024, I attended the Kappa Futur Festival, the biggest EDM festival in Italy. It was such an exciting experience, especially since I had already planned my trip to Turin, my favorite city in the country. When I discovered that my travel dates coincided with this fantastic music festival, I couldn’t resist purchasing a three-day pass. Now that I’ve experienced it firsthand, I want to share my insights and help fellow festival-goers prepare for Kappa Futur Festival 2026!
What is Kappa Futur Festival?
Kappa Futur Festival is an annual electronic music festival held in Turin, Italy, typically in early summer towards the end of June or beginning of July. It takes place at Parco Dora, located about five kilometers north of central Turin.
🪩 The 2026 Kappa Futur Festival will be held from July 3rd to July 5th (Friday to Sunday). 🪩
Kappa Futur Festival Tickets
I purchased my tickets for 2024 very early—back in November 2023 when I booked my trip, I noticed the festival was happening. I scored early bird tickets for €130 for three days. As the festival approached, prices steadily increased.
As for 2026, I neglected to check the early bird prices, which sold out by October 2025. General admission tickets will be available soon on the festival’s website. Additionally, single-day passes will be released closer to the event, usually before the lineup is announced, making them a good option for those with tight schedules.
Kappa FuturFestival Lineup & Schedule
I bought my tickets long before the lineup was announced, as they offered a generous return and resale policy. Information about the performers was released in three waves:
- First, the list of performers was announced in three parts: mid-December, mid-January, and late February.
- Then, late March saw the announcement of which artists would perform on each day.
- Finally, the actual schedule was released about ten days before the festival.
Once the schedule was available, I could use the official Kappa FuturFestival app to save the shows I wanted to see and create my personal itinerary.
Getting Ready for Futur Festival
Though excitement was high, I found the lead-up to KFF 2024 a bit disorganized. As I write this on June 29th, 2024, just six days before the festival starts, I still haven’t seen the rules and restrictions on what can be brought inside. There’s a lot of worry among attendees regarding bag sizes, sunscreen, and portable chargers, as some items were prohibited last year.
Ultimately, I decided to carry my Travelon anti-theft fanny pack, limiting what I could carry, but minimizing risk from pickpockets. Although I didn’t experience theft, I heard of many who did. I hope my festival photos help illustrate allowable bag types.
As for the festival’s official app, it left much to be desired. A chat feature filled with ticket and drug sale spam lacked moderation, leading many to create separate WhatsApp groups for relevant discussions.

The Kappa FuturFestival Experience
I decided to attend the festival for two of the three days, as my favorite DJs performed on Friday and Sunday. On Saturday, I took some time to explore Turin, which I highly recommend!
As a lifelong EDM fan but a festival newbie at 40, I approached KFF without much comparison. My perspective is shaped by my experiences during this event.
Entering the Festival Grounds
I used public transportation to reach Kappa Futur Festival on both days. I took a tram to the Piero Della Francesca stop on the west side of Parco Dora, which turned out to be quite a trek to my designated entrance gate. Be prepared for a 10-minute walk from any stop to the festival gate.
Upon arrival, I received a wristband linked to my ticket. Using the KFF app, I could preload money onto my wristband for food, drinks, and vendors, as cash and cards weren’t accepted. If you have any unspent funds post-festival, they will refund you within a few days.
At both gates, I encountered police officers and drug-sniffing dogs. Expect security checks and a couple of bag searches as you enter the grounds.
Festival Facilities
The festival featured toilets, lockers (with phone chargers), wristband reloading stations, information booths, and drug-testing stations. Unfortunately, my experience with the bathrooms was negative. Most facilities were porta-potties, already dirty by the afternoon hours.
For €2, you could use “clean washrooms” that had basic plumbing and were monitored by staff. They were still basic but offered running water for handwashing.
Food & Drink at Kappa Futur Festival
The food options looked plentiful, ranging from poke bowls and kebabs to pizza and fries. As a vegetarian, I found sufficient choices, while vegans might also find options.
I also noticed the prices for drinks; I enjoyed a couple of palomas each day. Only water was sold in plastic bottles, but free refill stations were available. Despite seemingly long lines, they moved quickly, and the staff was friendly.
⭐Bring extra bottle caps in your bag since they won’t provide you one for any purchased water bottles! ⭐
Plastic Waste at Kappa Futur Festival
Concerningly, the amount of trash generated at the festival was shocking. Recycling bins were scarce, and most were overflowing by early afternoon. While the festival promotes sustainability, it didn’t reflect my observations of the waste management.
The Music
With five main stages plus a smaller VIP area stage, Kappa Futur Festival attracted many renowned DJs. The sound was excellent on the Futur Stage, but proximity to other stages created some sound mix issues.
Some of my favorite sets were by Purple Disco Machine, Hugel, Blond:ish, and Lost Frequencies. However, I found one artist I was eager to see drifted more towards techno than house, which was initially appealing.
The Atmosphere
I enjoyed the daytime atmosphere, which felt relaxed and inviting. As evening approached, the venue filled up with more attendees, including locals, creating a crowded environment. Rain brought more challenges, as many sought shelter.
While Kappa Futur Festival aims to merge EDM with contemporary art, the art aspect felt almost invisible unless you’re actively involved in that scene.
Unfortunately, I witnessed many festival-goers wearing indigenous North American regalia as costumes, which is culturally insensitive.
Getting Home After KFF
Leaving the festival posed challenges, as I exited on the opposite end from my entry. Although the festival claimed to enhance public transport services, I found the connections limited. I navigated through rain and used local bus routes to return to my hotel.
Would I Recommend Kappa Futur Festival?
Kappa Futur Festival served as a fantastic introduction to large-scale EDM festivals for me. With around 80,000 attendees, the atmosphere was lively yet manageable—there was enough to see and do without overwhelming crowds. However, while early bird tickets represent good value, the last-minute price jump might not match expectations.
Organizers will need to enhance communication, cleanliness, and sustainability efforts leading up to the 2026 festival. Regardless, I support any initiative that attracts visitors to my beloved Turin, so ensure you carve out time to explore the city—it rivals Rome, Venice, and Florence without the crowd congestion!
